Administration of the Nenets Autonomous Area invites you to the II International Scientific and Practical Conference “Arctic Telemedicine”
November 24 – 25, 2016, Naryan-Mar


Arctic territories have some characteristic features which influence the conditions and quality of health services for the population: considerable remoteness of settlements and lack of transport infrastructure, heavy expenses for medical aviation and it’s dependence on harsh climatic conditions, lack of skilled healthcare staff. Against this background the introduction of telemedicine technologies into routine medical practice can improve significantly the living standards of High North inhabitants as well as the working environment of oil and gas fields developed in the Arctic. According to the decision of the Russian Ministry of Healthcare the Nenets Autonomous Area was included in a pilot project on the creation of federal telemedicine system of federal state agencies.

Purpose of the Conference

To consolidate the expert community efforts in the search of practical solutions to the problems of accessibility and quality of health care in the Far North.


- to exchange results and experience in the effective use of information technologies organizing health care in remote hard-to-reach territories;
- to generate recommendations on organizational, financial, economic, and legal aspects of eHealth development in the Arctic conditions;
- to discuss the perspectives of interaction of healthcare providers with oil and gas producers conducting operations in the Arctic on delivering medical care for the personnel;
- to overview innovative telemedicine solutions and the prospects of their use in the Arctic;
- to identify the challenges of introducing and use of regional telehealth systems and find proper solutions;
- to discuss the problems of telemedicine technologies integration into the activity of health care institutions.

Practical application of telemedicine in remote hard-to-reach areas.
Legal aspects of eHealth, personal data and medical information security.
Innovative technical and organizational telehealth solutions.

Participation in the conference and publication are free. Travel and accommodation costs are covered by participants.
